Kindergarten Entry Assessment: Kindergarten entry assessment (KEA) is a one-time assessment designed to measure a child's skills and behaviors within the first few weeks of entering kindergarten. Using KEA data can help inform teachers and leaders of the number of children who are ready for school overall, as well as support instruction by meeting students where they are when they enter kindergarten. This year all Kindergarten students must be assessed within the first 30 days of school. Part of the assessment is a series of observations by the Kindergarten teachers (can the student hold a pencil correctly type questions) and part of the assessment is one on one with the teacher. Students are asked to point to a letter, name the letter, name shapes and other questions that help the school understand the level of readiness of our incoming Kindergarteners.
